The finale is the DSO’s stirring rendition of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, played in harmony with authentic cannon fire under a canopy of fireworks.

Pack a picnic, bring a blanket and celebrate the start of the cultural season with friends, family and fellow music enthusiasts alike. Bass-Baritone Kevin Deas, fresh off the national tour of Porgy and Bess, joins Maestro Hankewich and Orchestra Iowa for this signature event.
