The Embarcadero will come alive with the music of one of America’s finest composers, George Gershwin. This concert will feature Broadway stars performing the most beloved songs of George and Ira Gershwin, with particular focus on the recent revivals of An American in Paris and Porgy and Bess. Our special guests will be Norm Lewis, from that 2012 Porgy and Bess Broadway run, and singer and dancer Robert Fairchild, Tony Award-nominated star of the An American in Paris revival. Leading the concert is acclaimed Broadway conductor Rob Fisher. Selections to include “It Ain’t Necessarily So,” “Summertime” and more!

The SF Symphony lights up the stage with the unforgettable music of a Jazz Age legend: George Gershwin. Featuring the show-stopping talents of Broadway vocalist Capathia Jenkins, and award-winning pianist Andrew von Oeyen, hear a dazzling selection of classic Gershwin showpieces, including “Summertime,” “Fascinatin’ Rhythm,” An American in Paris, and his most famous work, Rhapsody in Blue.

This year’s concert will include selections by John Williams (LincolnMunich), George Gershwin (Crazy for You overture), Aaron Copland (selections from Rodeo), Morton Gould (American Salute) and traditional favorites (“My Country, ‘tis of Thee,” “America the Beautiful,” etc.) plus our Armed Forces Salute!
