Verdi – Rigoletto Sequence 1

Verdi’s Rigoletto was premiered in 1851, and tells a tragic story of revenge gone wrong. For more about the plot, check out wikipedia.

This aria is sung by the Duke of Mantua, who is a very selfish, arrogant character, who takes pleasure in seducing young ladies for sport. This song is the musical representation of his character, one that would not hold an office for very long time in 2019.

Play this with your most confident tone, in an glorious Cantabile (singing) style. Enjoy adding some Rubato and Vibrato, and if you don’t know what those words mean, LOOK THEM UP!
